(“Ruki. Option Card!”) “I know.”
“Boost Chip, Power 10% up! Card Slash!”
[concerned look] “It evolved? How? It shouldn’t be able to.”
[arms folded, unimpressed] “Renamon, I won’t allow you to lose.”
“Even after evolving to Adult, our parameters are still higher. We can’t lose. Grow stronger...Renamon.” [a cold smile]
“Stay away, Tamer. It’s a digimon battle.”
“Renamon is ready to fight.”
NOTES –
- Ruki runs into the digital field and stands with her weight on one hip and arms folded very much like a girl after she removes her glasses. She stands by calmly while Renamon attacks.

Episode 3

“Aren’t you a tamer?”
(“I am a Tamer!”) “Then, let’s hurry up and settle this. Someone could see us since we’re not in a digital field.”
“Just born? You mean he’s at Baby level?”
“Created? ...Whatever. Renamon.”
“Enough already! You’re a tamer, right? You know the reason Digimon are born, right?”
“There’s no data...what kind of digimon is that?”
“Not good enough, Renamon.”
“Card Slash! Heavy Metal!”
[smirk] “Winner, Renamon.”
“Renamon, it’s your chance.”
“Renamon, I won’t allow even one loss.”
“I didn’t know there were so many digimon in this world.”
(“What’s the point of these fights between partners, between digimon?”) “What are you talking about? They’re digimon, after all.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Renamon, we’re going.”
“Renamon.”
“Renamon, do you want to be stronger?”
“Stronger… much stronger. Then, why don’t you evolve? We’ve defeated enough enemies, you’ve loaded all of their data! Why haven’t you evolved yet? A digimon that doesn’t evolve...”
“Digimon are friends? No way.”
“Digimon are attracted to each other...that’s because they all live to fight each other.”
“Reason? I’m telling you there’s no reason. They’re just digimon. Renamon will fight Guilmon and then evolve. Those are the rules for digimon.”
“Don’t interfere! That little pet of yours will never be a match for Renamon.”
“I don’t care, digimon are digimon. Renamon, just hurry up and defeat him.”
“Galgomon. Adult level, evolved from Terriermon. Special attack is Gatling Gun.”

NOTES –
- Ruki hangs around in a crowded street listening to music until after dark.
- When the boys start talking about her, she turns to look and listen but then walks away without saying anything. (“Hey, you…aren’t you the Digimon Queen?” “The Queen of what?” “Yeah, she’s the one who reached the finals in last year’s Digimon Card Battle tournament!” “T This girl?” “She’s really good! She even won the first prize on the Novice Tamer Tournament!”)

[seeing Takato’s open-mouthed expression] “You don’t need to thank us. We just wanted his data.” (“You’re awful.”) [a genuine expression of surprise, followed by hurt at Takato’s accusation]
“Digimon are just digimon. Renamon?”
[nervous/scared of Culumon] “What’s...this thing?”

(“She treats her partner digimon coldly, like she’s only data as well.”)
(“Whose older sister is that?” “No, that’s a mother!”)

[staring at her grandmother’s activities on the computer/upon being asked if she wants one] “It’s not that.”
[sighs at being asked to open the door]

[to Renamon] “You can go.”
“We just have to stay away from this place. I’m going.”
“So what? After all, digimon are only digimon.”
“I don’t have anything to do with this.”
“I never run away from a tamer.”
“Where’s the other exit, anyway?”
“Are you kidding? Why should I walk for so long?”
“That’s not helping at all.”
“How can you be so sure? What are you going to do?”
[frightfully] “What’s this?”
“I can’t stand this...”
“W-What is this place? It makes no sense!”
“This is stupid…”
“Look!”
“You don’t need to tell me!”
“So dumb…all this just for a digimon.”

Episode 8

[upon being informed of a new digimon, Ruki—sitting alone at the table and examining her digimon cards—wordlessly prepares to leave]
“Renamon.” (“Wait. This is…Guilmon’s fight.”) [uncertain look]
“What is he doing? He has no idea about using the cards! Speed is useless here…”
[during Takato’s exchange with Guilmon, she stands back with a faint smile and her arms crossed. The smile has faded by the time Guilmon evolves.]

“It’s useless. It may fool the human eye…but any digimon could find him with no effort.”
“Renamon?”
“Renamon.”
“It’s your Tamer’s order.”
“You guys…don’t realize you have responsibilities as tamers.”
“You have more stuff to worry about on this level.” “We’re going, Renamon.”

Episode 10

“A digimon that hadn’t loaded any data but still evolved...not only that time.”

“I thought they evolved by becoming stronger. But…”

“That’s enough…will you ever stop following me?”

[to her mother] “What?”

[sleeping on the train (or at least sitting with her eyes closed) while the trio go to find the source of the Blue Card, Takato and Jenrya are speculating]
[keeps her distance sitting silently on the stairs while Takato and Jenrya pester the other boys for clues]
[to confused boy] “What do you know?”
(“Hey, what could we say at a time like this?”) “I don’t know either. But, this isn’t just some family problem.”
(“Do you think that guy will show up?”) “Of course not! This is stupid.”
“Then…we have to defeat them before that happens.”
“We choose that one.”
“Card Slash! High-Speed Plug-In W!”
“They’re playing with us.”
“Rapidmon. Perfect level Cyborg digimon. Vaccine-type. His attacks are Rapid Fire and Golden Triangle.”
[nods once, silently, after Pajiramon’s and Vajramon’s defeat]
“It’s still here!” “W-Wait! What are you doing, Renamon?”
“Talk about what?” “‘Shut up?’”
“What are you talking about, Renamon?”

Episode 18

(“I owe a big part of my job to him. So I hope you don’t see anything strange, Ruki-chan.”) [long pause] “Anything strange?”
QUOTED FROM MOTHER – “Why are models smiling? You can’t believe those fake smiles.” “I hate dresses.”
“It’s not that I hate dresses. I hate the dresses you make me wear!”
[mollified look after Sugai-san tells her how pretty she is and gives her the hat] “I see...”
(“Would you like to have a job like your mother’s?”) “Nope.”
[she freaks out at the flashing lights during the photo test]
“No response…I can’t even know where she is.”
“Renamon…you’re not coming back?”
“I’m home.” “Taking a walk.” (“What kind of primary school girl takes a walk this late?”) [points to herself, straight-faced] “Here.”

[ignores her mother calling after her as she bikes away]

[notices movement]

[Ruki and Juri share the only blanket to lie on, though Ruki’s curled up facing away]

(“There was nothing to do.”) “Nothing to do?”
“The ones from last night.”
“‘Stop,’ you say? After all you did last night!”
“These things attacked us last night!”
(“We were scared! We were confused!”) “So what!”

“Can we trust them? They saw Makuramon but not Culumon, that’s weird…”

[runs from the data stream, urging Juri along as well]

“Are those houses? But they don’t have any doors or windows. And that big cloth on the roof…what is it for?”
“We have to hurry up and find the others. But…how do we get up there?”
“How can they sleep at a time like this? Can’t you take anything seriously? This is why I didn’t want them to come to the Digital World!”
“Let me complain a bit. When are you waking up!” [kicks Hirokazu]

[arriving at a stream surrounded by cherry blossom trees] “Beautiful...” “It’s great!”
[makes a noise of fear at the oncoming river sweeping her away and then screams]
“Renamon, help me!” “Thank you...Renamon....”
“Culumon!” “They were searching for you!” [picking him up]
[screams as they’re sent flying by the tidal wave, clutching Culumon] “Renamon!”
“Thanks, Kyuubimon!” “Where are we?”
“We were worried, Ruki.” [smiling] “Sorry.”
“Now that we found Culumon, we can just return to the Real World.”
(“I wonder, how about we ask Ryo-san?” .[..]) “Hmph! That guy.”
